The Obari Reach - An Overview

The Campaign World

Seas of Fate takes place in a homebrew fantasy setting, not a published setting like Forgotten Realms. Let's just call it The World. We'll focus just on our pirate islands setting without defining the larger world. Who needs all that extra lore when there is pirating to do? Ain't nobody got time for that!

A chain of tropical islands that extends from the sub-continent of Obari, the Obari Reach was conquered centuries ago by Korynthian explorers who supplanted the native Obari living there. Laying along the vital southern trade routes, the countless islands of the Reach make an ideal haven for pirates and smugglers.

People of the Reach:

Korynthia

The distant empire of Korynthia lays a tenuous claim to the Obari Reach. The Korynthian Navy, particularly its famed Imperators, attempt to keep merchant traffic safe in the Reach by hunting pirates and slavers. Slavery is illegal in Korynthia, and its common knowledge that Imperators despise slavers. They run the town Port Sapphire and the island fortress Seagard.

Obari

Dark-skinned humans with a rich culture, the Obari come from the fierce jungles of the Obari sub-continent. Gold, spices, and witchcraft are their stock in trade. Once dispersed throughout the Peninsula in tribal kingdoms, most Obari now live in or near Mezoa Town.

Chelaxia

A distant land of merchants, explorers, and wizards. Chelaxians establish colonies and trade routes in the wilderness and dabble in the slave trade. Strictly lawful but not good, Chelaxian colonies are policed by the uncompromising Code. They run the large trade port of Xhyren Bay in Medorra.

Seafolk

The aquatic races of the Reach live primarily in the Eladros Waters, a stretch of sea defined by ancient treaties. Here aquatic elves live in undersea cities and merfolk nomads can hunt safely. Formal contacts between the Seafolk and surface dwellers take place on a neutral island called the Altar of the Pact.
